September is always an inspiring month for Hultians as it marks the Finals of the annual Hult Prize. Held as part of the United Nations General Assembly week in New York City, the Hult Prize was founded by a Hult student in 2009 and is now the world’s largest student competition and movement for social good. 1. Hult Global One-Year MBA program ranked #15 in the world by Forbes
Forbes reviewed schools based on their graduates’ return on investment after five years. Hult’s intensive one-year programs and impressive career results mean less time out of the workplace and an average starting salary of over USD90K. 2. Hult Prize Finals—Restoring the rights and dignity of 10 million refugees
This year’s USD1million challenge, announced by President Bill Clinton, called on participants to re-awaken human potential and restore the rights and dignity of 10 million refugees by 2022. The winning team—Roshni Rides—devised an innovative public ride-sharing service using electricity powered rickshaws. CNN Money takes a detailed look at the winning team’s model and the demands of setting up a business in a refugee camp. 3. Hult faculty in the press
Hult faculty have been widely featured in the press this month. Professor of Strategy Dr. Olaf Groth co-wrote a fascinating piece on the future of Artificial Intelligence along with fellow Hult Professor of Business and Economics Dr. Mark Esposito. In it, they argue for a “modern Magna Carta” to enshrine the rights and autonomy of human beings in the wake of ever-more sophisticated AI developments. This has been widely re-published, including by the World Economic Forum and is upcoming in multiple national editions of Harvard Business Review over the next few months.
Research Lead Dr. Nadine Page contributed to the Harvard Business Review this month. Nadine’s recent research into narcissistic and Machiavellian business leaders studied how hostile personality disorders or characteristics affect a person’s chances of promotion at work, and how their subordinates perceive them. The conclusions drawn from this research may surprise you.
Professor of Entrepreneurship Mike Grandinetti is featured in NEMA with a thought leadership piece about Industry 4.0 and the “Era of Accelerated Disruption”—the new age where continuous innovation is a necessary standard.
