Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Supervision

Organisational supervision is a structured reflective practice that supports coaches, consultants and organisational practitioners working in complex systems. Unlike coaching supervision, which focuses primarily on individual coaching relationships, organisational supervision considers the wider organisational, cultural and systemic dynamics influencing a practitioner's work. It helps supervisors and practitioners navigate complexity, strengthen ethical judgement and improve the quality of their interventions across organisations.

Coaching supervision focuses on supporting coaches in their one-to-one and team coaching practice, helping them reflect on client relationships, ethical dilemmas and professional development. Organisational supervision builds on these foundations by exploring the wider organisational system in which the work takes place. It equips supervisors to support practitioners working across multiple stakeholders, organisational politics, change initiatives and complex consulting engagements.

This programme is designed for experienced coaches, consultants, organisational development practitioners, faculty members and non-executive directors who want to develop advanced supervision capability. Participants typically have at least three years' experience in coaching or consulting and are looking to support the development of other practitioners while strengthening their own professional practice.

Supervision plays a vital role in maintaining the quality, integrity and effectiveness of coaching and consulting practice. It provides a confidential space to reflect on client work, examine ethical challenges, receive constructive challenge and continue professional development. For experienced practitioners, supervision strengthens judgement, reduces professional isolation and helps ensure clients receive the highest standard of support.

Successful participants are awarded the Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Supervision as well as Ashridge Supervisor Accreditation through a rigorous peer assessment process leading to ESIA status with the EMCC. Hult is one of the first institutions to be awarded the EMCC European Supervision Quality Award (ESQA), providing international recognition for the quality of its supervision provision.

Hult approaches supervision as a relational practice rather than a competency-based assessment alone. Alongside established supervision models and evidence-informed theory, participants develop the judgement, presence and ethical sensitivity needed to work with the complexity of real coaching and organisational consulting engagements. The programme integrates coaching supervision with organisation development supervision, preparing supervisors to support practitioners working across individuals, teams and whole organisational systems.

Many experienced practitioners move fluidly between executive coaching, team coaching, organisational consulting and leadership development. Studying coaching supervision alongside organisation development supervision enables supervisors to understand both individual coaching relationships and the wider organisational systems that shape them. This broader perspective prepares graduates to supervise practitioners working in increasingly complex organisational environments.

After successfully completing the Postgraduate Diploma, participants undertake the Ashridge Accreditation process. This involves presenting a portfolio demonstrating supervision competence, reflective practice and professional development, alongside a live supervision assessment. The process recognises supervisors who can demonstrate advanced capability, ethical maturity and relational judgement in practice.

Our Ashridge faculty are leading voices in their fields who combine psychotherapeutic and organisational development backgrounds. They bring a wealth of experience, with myriad publications and research that continually pushes boundaries, setting standards for the coaching profession worldwide.

Our participants are practising coaches, consultants, and senior people leaders and we require a minimum of three years' experience in a coaching or mentoring capacity. Participants also include faculty and non-executive directors with a similar level of experience in a consulting/advising capcity.

This is a part-time program, delivered at Hult Ashridge over 16 months comprising 6 two-day workshops and some assignments.
