Pursuing a degree comes as a stepping stone to deepening my knowledge in a particular area. Before coming to Hult, I obtained an Associate Degree in Accountancy at Ngee Ann Polytechnic in Singapore. Coupled with an internship experience there, I concluded that accountancy is a practical science that I appreciate but might not pursue as a long-term career.
However, I knew that I was seeking a practical approach to business education. Hult was naturally a top choice for me as their approach was highly practical compared to other conventional and top universities I applied to. That was my first business decision.
My second one came when I thought it was wise to pick a specialization as part of my bachelor’s degree. The Hult Undergraduate program offers five specializations to students who prefer to graduate with more than a general business administration degree. These majors are accounting, finance, management, marketing, and entrepreneurship.
For the majors fair, organized last month, guest speakers from the various industries related to the specializations came in to share their insights and experiences to help me and my fellow undergraduates decide which path to take. One of those speakers was Sven Ley who founded The Rockster, a family-owned business formed solely to allow dogs around the world to enjoy all of the benefits of superfood.

I came to believe that students can’t just learn entrepreneurship in class. They also have to get themselves out there and learn from real life lessons. But certainly, with the speakers, mentors, and entrepreneurship program that Hult has, the approach to learning entrepreneurship in this school is different.
Sarveen Chester is a Singaporean student on his final year at Hult London campus. He currently leads the Hult Founders Lab, a launchpad for start-ups, and is active in Hult Model United Nations and Hult Impact Club. He is passionate about current affairs, social enterprise, and youth leadership.
