Meet Tobias

Tobias majored in Entrepreneurship and landed a job straight after graduation. Starting the job search early and going out and networking led to him securing his ideal role at Apple in San Francisco.

How did you build your network while studying?

Through global rotation, I had the chance to generate a network across both the US coasts, London, Shanghai, and Dubai. There were many opportunities to make great connections. My experiences ranged from meeting top executives of major global corporations such as IBM and CEOs of new startups like Bluesmart to working on finding a business solution for a real-world problem for a major international client, Amazon.

Why do you need entrepreneurial skills in a huge corporation like Apple?

Even in such an innovative company, bringing ideas to life requires persistence, a strong network, and the ability to lead and motivate your colleagues. That is true whether you’re working to innovate in a startup or a major corporation.

Any tips for future students?

My story proves that the network that you build while you’re at Hult is likely to be crucial to the success you’ll have afterward. If speakers at Hult hadn’t directed me to some great meetups, I wouldn’t have connected with the person who referred me for the job at Apple. So, to give yourself the greatest chance of success, start early and get networking.

Meet Gazi

Gazi knows how important the right support and connections are when it comes to successfully launching your own business ventures.

Tell us about life after graduation

My first venture, TEC Avenue, aimed to develop a new technology that wirelessly charged any kind of electronics. While this was an R&D product, our market-ready product was the first portable wireless charger that was compatible with new model smartphones using Qi-Technology. We sold this throughout Europe and spent more than two years working on the business model. I learned a lot as I was communicating with large retail companies and investors. When it ended, I felt prepared for the ever-changing challenges of the business world. My new business, Von Hohenstaufen Holding, offers consulting and financial services to companies, startups, HNWI, and private people. We offer services in a variety of fields including investment, asset management, and consulting—I’m excited to see what the future holds.

What support did you get at Hult?

Having ideas is one thing, having the right support is a whole other thing. Professor Daniel Rukare was a great support and has given me amazing advice. He helped me to join the Hult Founders Lab, which led to me having the founder of Shazam as my mentor.

What’s your advice to future students?

Show courage and just do it. You don’t want to look back at your time at Hult and wonder what could have been. Failures and mistakes will happen, but that’s where you get the best experience.
