Faster than you can utter “Solutions Marketing,” Professor Hurely’s class at Hult’s Shanghai campus drew to an end. As an observer and active participant I can state that group work assignments as well as communication with our external consultant, a Senior Marketing Executive from EMC2, definitely enhanced the “hands-on-experience” and left us all richer with new skills and a deeper insight into how Solutions Marketing is transforming the business of today into the business of the future!
In the weeks to follow I will be attending International Negotiations with Professor Patrick Courtin where, through a series of workshops and negotiation simulations, he will break us and re-make us into skilled negotiators. So far, 40 brave souls have risen to the challenge.
Last week the students also had a chance to partake in a guest lecture with Paul Chen, General Manager of ROVIO (Angry Birds) China. As an Angry Bird fan (or rather addict) it was an absolute delight to hear ROVIO’s story, not to mention get a “sneak preview” in how they are differentiating themselves as a market leader in the entertainment industry. Some interesting takeaways from the lecture? In 2.5 years of market presence the Angry Birds game has been downloaded 10 billion times! Having access to learn about the key factors which made their business into a success story truly opens one’s mind towards new ways of leaving a footprint in business and the world.
