Hi, we’re the Women in Business club at Hult London Undergraduate. We’re here to tell you all about how we’re empowering females across campus and what the club means to us and our journey to Hult.

During the first couple of weeks of being on campus, we noticed that there wasn’t a club or society that represented women, but all the other Hult campuses had one. That’s when we became proactive and decided having a Women in Business club would be a great way for us to create a community—one that provides a safe space for female students to excel in business and feel empowered.

We seek to empower women, to help them feel capable to take on whatever challenges that might arise in their lives. We understand that women are a minority in most business sectors, so we want to help them become confident so they can dominate in any industry.

One of our main goals is to help our members network with other businesswomen in various industries. We hope to motivate our members to strive for more by sharing the successes and achievements of these businesswomen.

Alara’s story:

My journey to Hult started with me wanting to move back to London. After spending nearly 15 years in California, I wanted to come back to London and be closer to my home country, Turkey. After countless days and hours of research, I felt that Hult was a great fit and aligned with my own personal values. I am always eager to be a part of a more diverse and newer environment, and Hult was the perfect fit for that. Hult and London combined bring a different perspective and more knowledge than I could have expected.

“Opportunities don’t happen, you create them” – Alara Hazar

When I first came to Hult, I wanted to be a part of a club that empowered women, but I couldn’t find any. My close friend Melissa and I thought of starting our own club, where we would help educate women beyond their time at Hult. This is how the Women in Business club started at Hult London.

Melissa’s story:

During my search to find the perfect school, I had to identify my personal values and objectives in the hopes of finding a place that matched those ambitions. When I found Hult, I was elated to find that its mission matched my mindset. As a student who learns more by doing, I was drawn to the teaching style at Hult, which is more practical, rather than the typical theory-based educational methods. I fell further in love with the school when I learned that it would allow me to see more of the world outside of the United States while pursuing my degree. My journey to Hult has given me new friends, experiences, and countless blessings.

After I joined Hult, Alara and I sat in the social area on campus and spoke about the gap that we saw in the clubs offered. As women, we felt we wanted to be represented. It was through this conversation the club started to form.

Aiya’s story:

After deciding to pursue a business degree, I started researching every business school there is in London and I found that the majority didn’t align with what I wanted from my university experience, which was more practice-based learning. Eventually, I decided to take a chance on Hult even though at first, I overlooked it. As I familiarized myself with the program and college’s values, it seemed like a place where I could grow and progress.

“There are opportunities all around you, all you have to do is take advantage of them” – Aiya Ayazbayeva

As soon as I accepted my place at Hult, I was looking at clubs and societies I could be a part of. During my first week at college, Alara and Melissa told me about their idea and asked if I wanted to be a part of it. It was an exciting opportunity to get involved in and a great way to be part of something close to my personal values.

Anna’s story:

I was originally studying at the Hospitality University in Lausanne, Switzerland. However, I wasn’t very happy there so I decided to search for a business university in London, as I felt I would fit in better. This is how I stumbled upon Hult, which fortunately for me offered the right balance between practical and theoretical work, and on top of that, it is an American school, which I was beyond happy about as my high school was also an American school.

“If there is a will, there is a way” – Anna Jacobs

Before I set foot on the Hult campus, I knew that I wanted to be a part of a club or multiple clubs. Once my friends told me that they were starting a club that empowered females, I was beyond happy to join.

Annika’s story:

My dream has always been to live, study, and develop in another country. After living in Germany all my life, I knew I needed something new, outside of my comfort zone. That’s when I came across Hult, which completely convinced me with its vision and way of learning.

“Step out of your comfort zone because that’s the only way you’re going to grow” – Annika Glos

I wanted to join a club where I could express my skills and passions. I met Anna on campus who told me a lot about the club—their vision and ideas. I knew then that I wanted to be part of the Women in Business club because it brings women together, to help them grow and gain experience in all aspects of their lives.

Wendy’s story:

After spending an exchange year in the United States, I knew I wanted to pursue my studies away from my home country. Hult not only allowed me a way to move back to the United States but also to travel to different countries around the world. I especially love the international environment Hult offers.

“Surround yourself with the things that make you feel good” – Wendy Farrando

When I started my first semester at Hult, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to be part of a club. However, I knew that I wanted to be part of something that would fuel my ambitions. I then started to hear more about Women in Business. I saw this as the perfect opportunity to be part of a club on campus that encouraged women to be whoever they aspire to be.
