Skills Development Track
Recruiters and corporate partners have been calling for MBAs who are able to demonstrate more skill at implementation. In response to this call, Hult has implemented a Skills Development component as a required part of the curriculum. These skills will be delivered throughout module A and module B.
These skills are organized into five streams:
Global Citizenship
This skill set focuses on the communication, understanding and empathy required to be an effective manager in a multicultural context. Hult is uniquely positioned to deliver this skill due to its highly diverse student body. The program will consist of cases, exercises, role plays and a capstone exercise evaluating the company’s “global citizenship.”
Business Execution
The ability to “get it done” is often made more difficult when trying to operate across different technical, political, social and cultural contexts. This skill development program focuses on creating leadership and communication ability so that Hult MBAs can be relied upon to find creative solutions to complex problems.
Management Communication
Communication is often cited as the most important skill a leader can have. Hult focuses on developing communication ability with regular tutorials in writing, presentation skills and multi-media applications. As the most common language of business, English is emphasized as a standard language.
Lifetime Career Management
It is anticipated that as people live longer and business changes more quickly, people will have to change careers more often, requiring individuals to master the skills to manage their own careers. These skills include resume writing, interviewing, negotiating and networking. Among the main topics covered:
- Assessing your strengths, interests and passions important to your career
- Creating powerful, targeted marketing materials,e.g., resumes, cover letters, emails
- Understanding and using networking
- Communicating persuasively in interviews and situations of self-promotion
