Masters in Finance at Hult

Learn both the language of business and the tactical financial skills needed to make an impact in corporate finance and international accounting with a Masters in Finance. With our Masters in Finance program, you will learn to make smart financial management decisions that maximize company value, limit risk, and optimize financial performance.

As a STEM qualification, this degree makes you eligible for a three-year working visa (OPT) in the U.S. after graduation. Non-U.S. residents who receive a Masters in Finance currently qualify for up to three years OPT (Optional Practical Training) in the U.S. after their studies. All graduate students receive one year OPT; Masters in Finance students can then qualify for a further two years if they are working in a degree-related job and their employer submits for the extension.

Our practical curriculum has been designed in collaboration with leading CFOs to equip you with both the technical and leadership skills to thrive in an international corporate environment. You’ll study ways to fund investments, free up capital, and decrease costs in a variety of contexts and, by understanding the nuts and bolts of the business and what drives the numbers, learn how to advise on which activities drive profitable growth.

You core program will equip you with the foundations necessary to tackle complex corporate financial management as you learn about the world, the future, and yourself. Choose from a wide range of exciting electives in the summer, which you can take at your home campus or at a rotation campus for further international experience.

Immersion

Immersion

Your program begins with a total immersion in Hult’s uniquely practical approach to education. Get to know your subject area, yourself, and your classmates, through intensive workshops, lectures, and challenges. You will also take Introduction to Financial Management. This course addresses the meaning of the flow of funds that is available to an organization and provides tools of optimal decision making about the application of those funds.

Introduction to Financial Management

Understand the flow of funds available to an organization, and the tools needed to make optimal decisions about their application, in order to create and preserve value for stakeholders of the modern firm.

Leadership I

Develop a “growth mindset”, and what we call the “Hult DNA”, through dynamic simulations and activities, as you learn to understand, apply, and diagnose indemand competencies in a repeatable development process.

Corporate Finance & Valuation

Focus on the tasks typically undertaken by chief financial officers and engage in discussions about the key considerations behind fundamental choices faced in the role. This course emphasizes the development of practical skills.

Modeling & Analytics

Combining statistics/econometrics and the unique nature of trading and investment, you’ll learn about the applications and motivations for model-building in modern finance and how to conduct an on-the-spot practical demonstration on an econometrics software package.

Investments

Develop your analytical skills pertaining to theory and practical application of investments—all relative to economic cycles and risk/return opportunities. Learn through an investor’s perspective, employing a variety of investment trading strategies.

Global Financial Markets

Develop the skills and logical thought necessary to examine major aspects of the financial system through an understanding of markets, their functions, and primary global actors, across the world’s economy.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

Navigate the international landscape of accounting and emerging standards. You’ll address the operation and impact of the International Accounting Standards Board, use of the International Financial Reporting Standards, and potential for convergence/divergence globally

Behavioral Finance

Go beyond the rational corporate models used in financial decision making and examine how non-financial factors— cognitive, neurological, and unconscious processes—may influence decisions made by managers in both corporate finance and investments.

Fintech

Fintech is a whole new industry composed of companies using technology to make financial services more innovative and efficient. Gain insight into this nascent revolution and understand the changes and ideas shaping the future.

Portfolio Management

Develop the critical, analytical, and interrogative skills relative to problem-solving to determine ideal portfolio mix, no matter the market conditions. Utilize real-world data to simulate portfolios for individual and institutional investors, as well as a fund.

Entry Requirements

03 Complete your application

Submit the following documents in Hult's online application. A conditional acceptance may still be given prior to submission of test scores.

  • Current resume/CV
  • Personal statement as a 400-500 word essay
  • One academic or professional reference
  • A copy of your bachelors degree or equivalent
  • Transcripts (in English) from all universities attended
  • Admissions test scores, if required. i.e. GMAT, GRE, or the Hult Business Assessment Test (your Enrollment Advisor will let you know if you are required to submit this)
  • Evidence of English proficiency, i.e. TOEFL/ IELTS, if required (your Enrollment Advisor will let you know if you are required to submit this)

04 Personal assessment interview

  • We will assess your profile, goals, and overall fit for the program in an in-person or phone interview
  • We will also review your English proficiency during the interview

05 Admissions decision

  • You will receive an admissions decision within two weeks, including decisions on any financial assistance applications
  • If you have yet to submit required documents, you may receive a conditional acceptance

06 Submit outstanding documents

  • If you receive a conditional acceptance, you will need to submit any outstanding required documentation— such as your test scores or college transcripts—before you start your program
