Your DBA at a glance

Begin your doctoral journey by identifying a major business challenge that's directly relevant to you and not currently addressed by contemporary theories. Your research will lead you to create novel, rigorous tools to address that problem and improve the practice of management long-term. In addition to writing three publishable papers, you’ll also conduct two workshops. These practicums will guide students, clients, and peers from your own company in recognizing, and solving, the business problem.

Months 1-3

Problem Formation: Through conversations with instructors and a systematic review of extant literature, you’ll identify relevant, persistent challenges that undermine business performance. During the program, you’ll create novel tools to explain, predict, and address these challenges.

Months 4-9

Tutorial on Predictive Analysis: You'll learn traditional methods of data analysis and master statistical software tools to conduct rigorous examinations. No prior experience in statistics is expected. You'll then collect and analyze original data to arrive at novel insights about your business challenge.

Months 10-15

Presentation of Initial Results: You'll present your results in two ways: a publishable paper that will help practicing managers understand and solve the challenge you identified; and a practicum to teach other managers when and how to apply your solution.

Months 16-21

Tutorial on Contemporary Methods: You'll learn about creating and conducting experiments, simulations, psychometric assessments, and meta-analyses. You'll select and apply one of these techniques to collect and analyze original data.

Months 22-24

Presentation of Secondary Results: You'll extend the reach and impact of your work in a second publishable paper and a second practicum on the additional nuances of your solution derived from non-traditional research methods.

Months 25-30

Dissertation and Graduation: With support from your instructors and tutors, you'll assemble and update all of your results into a cohesive paper that you'll present to a panel of academic scholars. Your program culminates in your in-person graduation, in full doctoral regalia, at one of Hult's global campuses.
