The Association of MBAs (AMBA) hosts an annual competition for “AMBA Student of the Year,” which seeks to recognize exceptional MBA students who have demonstrated a talent for leadership and have shown potential as future ambassadors of the MBA. This year, Hult has nominated Momtchil Kovatchev, class of August 2007, for the award. Momtchil has made it into the second round of consideration and has been short-listed to interview at AMBA’s offices in London on May 9, 2007.
According to the nomination committee, Momtchil is a strong, engaged player in the classroom and beyond. He is all about substance. With a commitment to deepening the discussion and facilitating the growth of the program, he is a clear leader who has already made his mark at Hult.
Momtchil’s immediate qualifications include excellence in his work in the MBA program. He is a strong student across all academic disciplines and he is well on his way towards graduating with distinction in the top 10 percent of the MBA class. Fellow students likewise acknowledge Momtchil’s service-oriented attitude and exceptional talents, as they elected him to represent them as a member of the very active Hult Student Association.
An important accomplishment of Momtchil’s, which is sure to endure, is that he founded the Hult Marketing Club. Through the club, he has dedicated himself to gaining greater access to marketing events for the Hult community and greater visibility for the school. His first act was to reach out to the American Marketing Association, leading to an event where Google’s Senior Manager of International Marketing was engaged to speak to the student population. The AMA’s local chapter also decided to hold a board meeting at the school.
Momtchil’s current performance at Hult reflects deep roots as a leader. While in Bulgaria, he started a charitable association called “MOGA,” which compensates for a weakness he perceives in the national education system by helping students create career opportunities following graduation. Now he aims to gather the best knowledge in a top MBA program and implement it in Bulgaria to help accelerate the country’s progress and redevelopment as a new member of the EU.
Congratulations to Momtchil on the nomination and for being recognized by AMBA as an outstanding student among his peers. We wish Momtchil the best of luck as he progresses to the next round of interviews.
