Vinod Jain

Professor of Global Economics and Strategy

Vinod Jain is Professor of Global Economics and Strategy at Hult International Business School, Shanghai, China, where he teaches in the fall each year. He served as Chair of the Department of International Business and Management at Nottingham University Business School China during 2012-2013, and on the faculty of the Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, during 2005-2012. A Fulbright Scholar and true cosmopolitan, Vinod has lived and worked in India, United States, Western Europe, Eastern Europe, China, and the Middle East.

An award-winning professor, Vinod also taught on Smith School’s Executive MBA program in China and Switzerland, as well as on the EMBA program at IIM Bangalore and University of Lodz, Poland. Prior to returning to academia in 1989, Vinod worked in industry for fifteen years and held executive positions with MNEs, including Macmillan Publishers (Vice President), Molins PLC (Manager Coordination), and Coca-Cola (Marketing Research Executive). He continues an active involvement with business and industry through Board positions, research, consulting, seminars, and conferences. He has served on the Maryland/Washington D.C. District Export Council since 2008 and on the Board of India-US World Affairs Institute since 2006.
Vinod has a Ph.D. in Strategy and International Business from University of Maryland, M.S. in Management from UCLA, and M.S. and B.S. (Hons) in Statistics from Indian Statistical Institute. He is a member of Academy of Management, Academy of International Business, Asia Society, Mensa, and a charter member of TiE-DC.
