About the Professor

Meet Dr. Luis Escamilla

Dr. Escamilla is a business intelligence, operations, and digital transformation executive with over twenty years of experience designing and operating large-scale data and decision systems across the United States, Latin America, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Has consulted for Honeywell, Sanofi, and Williams-Sonoma. He has led analytics, finance, and operational functions in complex organizations, with a focus on how data models, ETL processes, and analytical logic shape forecasting, governance, and executive decision-making rather than surface-level reporting.

He currently serves as Vice President of Digital Transformation and Administrative Services at UC Berkeley, where he has led the integration of more than sixty enterprise systems across finance, HR, housing, dining, payments, and physical security. Dr. Escamilla has also held senior leadership roles at Hult International Business School, where he launched and scaled graduate programs in Business Analytics and Innovation. Earlier in his career at Procter & Gamble, he launched one of the company’s first Industry Analytics functions, building econometric and forecasting models to improve marketing ROI, product mix, and profitability across billion-dollar portfolios.

About the Masterclass

How do businesses stay relevant when technology keeps rewriting the rules?

Industries don’t stand still—and neither do business models. From console sales to cloud gaming and subscription ecosystems, companies like Microsoft, Nintendo, and Epic Games have continuously reinvented themselves to stay competitive. But what can organizations across sectors learn from this evolution?

In this engaging one-hour session, you’ll explore how the gaming industry offers powerful lessons for businesses navigating technological disruption.

Through the framework of the 4Vs: volume, variety, visibility, and variation, you’ll gain practical insights into how shifts in customer demand, digital distribution, and data analytics can reshape operations, enhance customer value, and drive scalable growth.

What you’ll learn:

  • Decoding disruption: How the gaming industry transformed its business models in response to technological change.
  • Applying the 4Vs framework: Understanding how volume, variety, visibility, and variation shape operational strategy.
  • Designing for scale and resilience: Practical ways to rethink customer value, digital strategy, and operational agility in your own industry.

Whether you're an aspiring entrepreneur, business leader, or future master's or MBA candidate, this masterclass will leave you with actionable strategies to evolve your thinking—and your business—for long-term relevance and success.
