Develop a More Relational Approach to Leadership

In an AI-enabled world, the most effective leaders are those who can navigate complexity, work with what is unfolding, and go beyond frameworks to lead through relationships.

Our next online cohort starts this autumn. Our next face-to-face intake will join us at Ashridge in January.

In a world being reshaped by AI, human connection is irreplaceable

Many leaders are already, in effect, coaching every day—developing others, influencing outcomes, and navigating complex dynamics.

But few have had the opportunity to take a step back and deliberately deepen how they do this effectively: leading more relationally and adopting a more reflective approach.

Research consistently shows that what drives meaningful change is not process or tools, but the quality of the relationship itself. This is the foundation of relational coaching—and increasingly, of effective leadership.

What most leadership programmes can’t teach

Relational coaching pays close attention to what is spoken and unspoken in the relationship: emotional tone, patterns of interaction, and the dynamics that shape how people think and act.

Yet most leadership development focuses on models and techniques—rather than developing the judgement required to work with these dynamics in real time.

Recognising patterns as they emerge

Staying present under pressure

Navigating complexity without a fixed script

Choosing how to intervene in the moment

At Hult Ashridge, this capability is developed through an integration of psychodynamic, organisational and coaching approaches, grounded in supervised, experiential practice with world-renowned faculty.

“The programme moved me beyond relying on tools and gave me the confidence to use the coaching relationship itself as my primary instrument. It significantly enhanced my practice.”
