This course covers the basic theories of data visualization, such as data types, chart types, visual variables, visualization techniques, structure of data visualization, navigation in data visualization, color theory, and visualization evaluation. Students will discover strategies for simplifying complex data, and will learn to use visual representation methods and techniques to increase the understanding of complex data and models. Emphasis will be placed on the identification of patterns, trends and differences from data sets across categories, space, and time using different tools.

Understand how to reduce bias and improve both individual and collective decision makingMistakes in individual or group decisions can be costly; however, research indicates the extent to which bias can unconsciously influence the way we act and think. This session will help you to be aware of and recognize your own personal bias and that of others. We will learn about the science of decision making and explore how a range of biases affect decisions on both an individual and group level.
