The term “resilience” is often heard these days - perhaps not surprisingly, given all the challenges presented by an increasingly fast-paced and complex world.

In this program, we look at resilience in the context of individuals and teams at work. We go beyond general tips for managing stress in the moment, to help you explore what you can do to build your personal resilience for the longer-term. We also look at what it means for a whole team to be resilient, and what role you can play in helping your team to grow stronger through tackling the challenges you face together.

Course Structure

The course is divided into 4 modules.

01 Understanding Resilience

This module helps you to understand what resilience is, both as a concept and in terms of beginning to take stock of your own unique personal resilience profile. You will complete a few reflection exercises, examining your confidence, social support network, adaptability and your purposefulness.

02 Strengthening Your Resilience

This module looks at the relationship between resilience and well-being, focusing in particular on the resilience benefits that can be derived from a variety of approaches that enhance positive psychological well-being. You will complete exercises focusing on sense of purpose and applying a positive mindset.

03 Sustaining Your Resilience

The third module highlights the importance of looking after yourself both physically and mentally, demonstrating how this benefits your long-term resilience as well as your immediate wellbeing. You will also develop your own personal resilience plan.

04 Supporting Resilience

The final module addresses what you can do to support other people’s resilience, both in your dealings with individual colleagues and in helping to build your team’s capacity for dealing with current and future challenges. You will plan how you are going to strengthen your team’s resilience.

Meet the Faculty


Jill Flint-Taylor -BSocSc (Hons), MSocSc, PhD

Jill is a Professor of Organizational Psychology at Hult Ashridge Executive Education. The focus of her research and practice is the psychology of assessment, leadership and resilience. She works mainly with clients in international development, central government, professional and financial services, and the health sector.
