In the dynamic world of business, economics is fundamental.

Understanding economic logic is essential when reflecting on how firms choose their strategies and behave under different market structures. For example, price is a signal for both producers and consumers to interact in a market setting.

In this workshop, you’ll be introduced to some of the pricing strategies used by firms to increase total revenue. We’ll start with the basic concept of demand, how firms use the elasticity concept when strategizing how to price and position their products, and lastly see examples of how firms implement technology when pricing their products.

You’ll have the opportunity to put your knowledge intro practice during a group activity with your peers.

Professor Don Uy-Barreta has been teaching economics around the San Francisco Bay Area since 1999. Before joining academia, he worked as a portfolio analyst at Franklin Templeton Investments for nearly 12 years, where he was part of a team managing $4.5 billion USD in municipal bond investments.

‌He has guest lectured in the Philippines, Indonesia, and the United Kingdom on the topics of globalization and international trade. He has taught economics in the MBA, MIB, UG, and MBA programs at Hult. Don is happiest when he is traveling and adding to his collection of various currencies worldwide—a passion he hopes his daughter will continue. He holds undergraduate and graduate degrees in economics.
