A particular popular series has been our \u201cDay in the life of\u2026\u201d series, where we\u2019ve had panels of speakers provide insights into the financial, marketing and management consulting sectors.<\/p>\n<p>We have also had speakers who have come from enterprise backgrounds, such as <a title=\"Karen Lynch\" href=\"http:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/finance\/businessclub\/9109449\/Belu-boss-shows-bottle-for-a-turnaround.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Karen Lynch<\/a> of <a title=\"Belu\" href=\"http:\/\/www.belu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Belu<\/a>, who gave an excellent talk about how Belu has grown and changed as a social enterprise, and<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Martina_Milburn\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> Martina Milburn, Chief Executive<\/a> of <a title=\"Princes Trust\" href=\"http:\/\/www.princes-trust.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Princes Trust<\/a>, who spoke to over 80 students about how to run a social enterprise as a high performing business.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to these speakers in early October we organised a professional body fair, which the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cimaglobal.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cim.co.uk\/Home.aspx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cisi.org\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI)<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cii.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chartered Insurance Institute (CII)<\/a> and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.energyinst.org\/home\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Energy Institute<\/a> attended.<\/p>\n<p>What is a professional body? Well, in some professions, for example accountancy, surveying and in many areas of engineering, a professional qualification can be essential to practice. The relevant professional body will set the formal route for qualification, covering examinations and assessment, competence and experience required, and standards for professional ethics.<\/p>\n<p>The reason for bringing in these organisations to Hult now is that students don&#8217;t have to wait until they are employed to benefit from the resources and knowledge base of a professional body as many offer student memberships. For free, or a very low annual membership fee, student membership to a professional body can be great value in kick-starting career plans and provide great opportunities to make connections and building a network of peers and experts.
