For Hult undergraduate student\u202f<\/span>Iago Diogo<\/span><\/b>, the journey into finance began in the quiet days of the pandemic. He was self-taught, self-motivated, and deeply curious about a field that influences every part of life. Fast forward to 2025, and Iago has earned a coveted internship as a\u202f<\/span>Finance Advisor Development Track (FADT) Summer Analyst<\/span><\/b>\u202fat\u202f<\/span>J.P. Morgan Chase<\/span><\/b>, one of the world\u2019s most prestigious financial institutions.<\/span>

\n<\/span>We caught up with Iago to explore how he landed the role, how Hult prepared him, and what advice he has for fellow students with big ambitions.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What inspired your interest in finance, and how did you discover this opportunity?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Iago:<\/span><\/b> During the pandemic, I started studying finance independently. It became more than an interest; it became a passion. I saw how much it affects people\u2019s lives, especially personal finances, and wanted to be part of a profession that could make a real impact.<\/span> The opportunity at J.P. Morgan came from a mix of strategy and persistence\u2014being active in Hult clubs, using LinkedIn, and connecting directly with AVPs and associates for coffee chats. That\u2019s how you get your name out there.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What was it like when you received the offer?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Iago:<\/span><\/b> Life-changing. I\u2019d just come back from moderating a panel with BRASA (Brazilian Student Association) when I got the email. Even though I\u2019d had the call weeks earlier, seeing the written offer felt surreal. It was a proud moment that validated all the effort.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: How did the Hult curriculum support your success?<\/span><\/b>
\n
\n<\/span>Iago:<\/span><\/b> Hult\u2019s courses gave me both breadth and depth, especially in finance and business analytics. The Business Analytics class was one of the hardest I\u2019ve taken, but also one of the most rewarding. Hult helped me transition from theory to practical problem-solving under real deadlines.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What role did Hult\u2019s careers support and community play?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Iago:<\/span><\/b> The careers team was amazing, especially Tim, who I met in my first year. They helped me manage the internal logistics so I could focus externally on applications. And the clubs were a huge part of my success. They opened doors to networking events, even covered transport to make them accessible.<\/span>

\nQ: What was your internship like?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Iago:<\/span><\/b> The Finance Advisor Development Track program is a three-year pathway, starting with a 9-week internship and transitioning into a two-year full-time role. During the internship, I tackled three major projects. One that stood out was my individual work on\u202f<\/span>regulatory topics<\/span><\/b>\u202flike\u202f<\/span>Rule 144<\/span><\/b>\u202fand\u202f<\/span>pattern day trading<\/span><\/b>\u2014topics I found fascinating as an investor.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Another project focused on how advisors can reassure clients during volatile markets. We got to present directly to senior leaders. It was intense but incredibly validating.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What did you learn from the experience?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

Iago: <\/span><\/b>Patience. At first, I wanted to dive into everything, work 60-hour weeks, impress fast. But I learned to slow down and trust the process. Also, image matters. The way you show up\u2014your body language, attention to detail, attitude\u2014those things stick with people when decisions are made.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What advice would you give to other Hult students?<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
