Welcome to Hult<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

As is the case of most students, I was looking for a more practical school that wasn’t only focused on textbooks. Back in 2023 I started my journey and right now I’m on the path I need to be on\u2014interning at a company that actually does good and whose mission feels like my own.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I first encountered LemonAid when they hosted a business challenge with us BBA students this year. I like them from the start\u2014a soft drinks company that gives back to the social causes that make them with a commitment to fairtrade business practices. But how did I get in with them?<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Commitment and grit\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Hours of research\u2014like hundreds of hours. We were practicing everything to make sure the pitch was perfect. This meant practicing on the London Underground and all the other modes of transport, literal minutes before the presentation began.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But it was a team effort. No roles were specified strictly so we remained a fluid group. We did have our specialities though. For example, I oversaw marketing and there were finance and analytics experts as well. I wasn\u2019t the team leader. I don\u2019t think we had one which made sure to give everyone their time in the sun.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Taken not given<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

While LemonAid has a great connection with Hult and there have been interns from the school before, it by-no-means guaranteed my position. I wouldn\u2019t even say I got the job from the business challenge itself.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What happened was this: They called me to do a second challenge and then a second round of interviews. Then a third. Then I needed to complete a task\u2014a whole new business challenge under time pressure. Only then did I get the acceptance letter from the head of marketing.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Securing my future<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I’m marketing intern right now but it’s not just an internship\u2014I’m there on a probatory basis. I appreciate the trust they’ve given me and it\u2019s all because I feel I fit there so well.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It’s such a fun company to work for and to actually have a purpose that we’re working on every day. Everyone I communicate with and work for\u2014it always feels like there\u2019s a higher purpose. It doesn\u2019t matter whether I\u2019m communicating with people from foundations, updating our blog, writing for our website\u2014it all fits together.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How Hult helped\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I’ve talked about it a bit with other friends that got internships. We feel like the things we had to do and had to submit are the same things that we’re doing now. Everything that we were doing in Hult classrooms is just repeated, here, in the real world.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

I\u2019m talking about hard and soft skills. So hard skills like email marketing, dealing with Excel, email, filing, inboxing, and communication inside and company. I’ve designed POS points. I’ve designed more trade marketing material. I’ve worked with our sales reps as well so far. I\u2019m learning a lot on the job, but I wouldn\u2019t be there without Hult\u2019s guidance.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Opportunities and open eyes\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I could say I\u2019d always had my eye on a LemonAid internship but that wouldn\u2019t be strictly true. I love their brand and the social good they\u2019re committed to, but truly, when you\u2019re an undergrad, you\u2019re a little overwhelmed by the ocean of opportunity.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If I had any piece of advice for students approaching the end of their studies, it\u2019s this: Be open to everything. It doesn’t matter how small an opportunity is, some might even be disguised within routines and habits, always grasp them with both hands. When your eyes are wide open and you’re always working hard, your path will reveal itself.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
