There\u2019s this feeling when you\u2019re out on a road or rushing through some beautiful green space where you think: Wow this is incredible. Then you can&#8217;t stop. For me that was in my native Barcelona where I initially had a background in sports like volleyball and the gym. Once I put on a pair of running shoes however, it was game over: I was hooked. Everyone has a different story of how they got into running but mine was beautiful city-running. That\u2019s probably why I love running in Boston so much.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In the club<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">It started as so many clubs at Hult are: A casual conversation between friends. The plan was to go for an initial run, but everyone got so much joy out of it. Despite our cultural differences running is the same everywhere, just a pair of feet and a track, and the big serotonin boost you get afterward! It started off with just people from my course: Master\u2019s in International Business and now it has expanded outward. Because Boston is home to both undergrad and postgrad students the mix is very strong.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We don\u2019t really have any requirements for entry and it\u2019s open to all levels of skill.\u00a0 Keeping up with the pace setters isn\u2019t mandatory. People tend to bunch together in groups where they feel comfortable with the pace being run.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The good stuff<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Running has multiple benefits that I don\u2019t need to detail here. It\u2019s a meditative state for many members and we do it to feel good. Something I have found that through my hectic schedule, it is the calm in the storm of my day where I get to check in on myself and work through my problems. By the time I\u2019ve finished I&#8217;ve untangled a big knot, and all my problems are looking much smaller.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The people<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Not to say that it\u2019s a purely solitary club. Obviously, conversation is limited while we\u2019re on the trail but we\u2019re all good friends. That means that we always socialize after runs. We\u2019ll sit in a small cafe and share a coffee or even go to a bar and share a beer. It&#8217;s a bonding experience like no other as the Runner\u2019s High pulses through your body and you experience a real kinship with the other people sitting around you in their running gear.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Running the gauntlet\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We are a fairly new club which means we haven\u2019t had the chance to really stretch our legs just yet, but we have some pretty cool things planned. While we are not explicitly competitive we do encourage all our members to race if they want to. Nearby Cambridge is great for a competitive 5ks and some of us have even placed before. Race fees here are a little steep, but we are growing in confidence and hopefully we can expand out of the same few trails in Boston that we do.\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span data-contrast=\"auto\">If you want to get involved in running club or just breathe in the beautiful sights of Boston, check out their Instagram.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The running bug\u00a0 Everyone gets it at some point.
