Introduction through design\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

The Courage has been around for years. It\u2019s one of the oldest forms of student engagement outside the official curriculum. The professors are very aware of its importance, and it features directly inside the classroom. My first encounter with The Courage was through Design Professor Lindsay Butcher. We were set the task of re-designing the cover and that was it<\/span>\u2014I was in. Professor Lindsay\u2019s influence continues in its publication today.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A transformation\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

As I already said, The Courage has been around for a few years. During that time, nothing much had changed. When my team and I got to work we realized the whole thing needed a complete refresh. Firstly, its general aesthetic wasn\u2019t modern and didn\u2019t resonate with students. We set to work creating a more visually appealing cover, incorporating design elements that felt fresh. Another thing that we felt could resonate more was the choice of stories. While business education and Hult news are important, they must be interwoven with lifestyle pieces and content that students care about. With this two-pronged approach, we have completely transformed The Courage in my two years at the magazine.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Teamwork makes the dream work<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

My official title is that of the President. It\u2019s a role I took over after the previous President graduated. Then you\u2019ve got the editorial team who make sure everything is on-brand as well as formatted correctly. Then working with them is the design team who work I\u2019ve already mentioned are doing a standout job revamping our image. Overall, though, we\u2019d be nothing without our contributors. We encourage everyone to write for us<\/span>\u2014if you\u2019ve got a story and you\u2019re a Hult student, get involved!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Going beyond the page<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

We have a great relationship with other clubs around the London undergraduate campus. The one we work with the most is the Creative Club. Like us, they\u2019ve been around through various cohorts, and we tend to platform a lot of the creative work they do. One of our most recent success stories was the art exhibition we hosted on campus. The theme was centered around diversity through self-expression. Other events we hosted include poetry nights where the poetry read is often also featured in The Courage. The plan is to host more of these events in the coming year.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Sustainability is the future<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

I am part of the sustainability club<\/span>\u2014it\u2019s this that makes me certain I am the right fit for President of The Courage. One of the most dramatic changes I have overseen with my team is the move from print to digital. We used to produce hundreds of copies for every single edition. Now we have moved to a mailing list format where you get a copy if you want a copy. The digitization of The Courage is a work in progress but hopefully our website and online copies will be available soon.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As my final year as President approaches, I am proud of the progress we have made in transforming The Courage into a more vibrant, engaging, and professionally run student publication. I am working to ensure a smooth transition to the next team of student leaders who will continue to build on these improvements.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
