Olga Stepanets is a seasoned expert in luxury business development and strategic transformation with over 20 years of international experience. Having collaborated with prestigious brands like Dior and Est\u00e9e Lauder, she now spearheads business development for Gritti and Gleam, an Italian niche perfume brand. As a Hult alumna and avid marathoner, Olga applies the same drive and determination to her career and her goal of completing the world\u2019s six major marathons.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We caught up with her to learn more about the woman behind the success.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\" <\/span><\/h2>\n

Olga:<\/span><\/b>\u202fMy career began at LVMH, Est\u00e9e Lauder, and continued in the retail and distribution business. After a decade in these roles, I recognized the need to expand my expertise in general management and global business development, which led me to pursue an MBA at Hult in 2016. Post-MBA, I shifted from working with large corporations to helping independent brands scale globally. I joined Evidens de Beaut\u00e9 in Paris as International Sales Director, leading a strategy to grow the business tenfold\u2014a challenging and exhilarating endeavor set by the brand\u2019s owner. After a stint in distribution in London, I joined Gritti & Gleam, where I developed a relaunch strategy for Gleam to capture the Gen Z market. Now, as Business Development Director at Gritti, I\u2019m deeply engaged in shaping the global strategy for this niche luxury gem. My passion for the beauty industry, blending creativity with strategic insight, continues to drive and inspire me.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hult:<\/span><\/b>\u202f”What are your most significant achievements since graduating?”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Olga:<\/span><\/b>\u202fCompleting my MBA at Hult was a pivotal moment that transformed my approach to strategy and decision-making. In France, I doubled business annually, a significant achievement in a competitive market. My time in London provided valuable distribution experience, but my most exciting achievements are ahead with Gritti. I\u2019ve developed a three-year transformation plan, which I\u2019m eager to implement with the most talented team I have ever worked with. My background in professional sports\u2014where energy, speed, and discipline are key\u2014has greatly influenced my approach to change management. Above all, building effective teams is essential for long-term success.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hult:<\/span><\/b>\u202f”You recently participated in a case challenge for Hult’s postgraduate students in London. What was that experience like?”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Olga:<\/span><\/b>\u202fThe case challenge was an incredible experience. Collaborating with Professor Margareta James, I presented my business case to 170 students across three Hult programs. The challenge focused on finding the right path for the newly launched niche brand Gleam. After a month of collaboration, we gained invaluable insights into the Gen Z audience, helping refine the brand\u2019s next steps. The students\u2019 creativity and fresh perspectives were instrumental in shaping our strategy. Being back on campus as a\"\" presenter was highly rewarding, highlighting the importance of lifelong learning. Sharing knowledge with emerging professionals reaffirmed the value of continuous growth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hult:<\/span><\/b>\u202f”How do you stay connected to the Hult community?”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

Olga:<\/span><\/b>\u202fStaying connected to the Hult community is vital. I prioritize taking yearly electives to remain at the forefront of industry trends and strategies. Networking through Hult is equally important\u2014it connects me with a global network of professionals, providing continuous learning and invaluable support. This community helps me stay competitive and informed in today\u2019s dynamic business environment.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Hult:<\/span><\/b>\u202f”What are some key lessons you\u2019ve learned from your career and running that you would share with aspiring students interested in luxury business?”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

            From running, I\u2019ve learned the importance of perseverance and structured goal-setting. The discipline and determination required in sports closely align with business success. Set clear goals, work diligently every day, and face challenges with unwavering resolve.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

            Hult:<\/span><\/b>\u202f”What inspired you to start running, and how does it influence your professional growth?”<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

            Olga:<\/span><\/b>\u202fRunning has been a passion since childhood, beginning with a school competition win in fifth grade led me to the champion of Ukraine. Training with a professional coach for 15 years fueled my Olympic dreams, but an injury ended that chapter. Despite this, running has remained integral to my life. For the past seven years, I\u2019ve pursued marathons to complete six major marathons worldwide. I\u2019ve completed five and am preparing for the Tokyo Marathon next March to earn my six-star medal. Running is more than a sport; it mirrors my approach to life and business. Marathon training teaches resilience and commitment\u2014lessons directly applicable to business. Just like in a marathon, business success requires hard work, overcoming obstacles, and maintaining focus.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
