Last month, Bloomberg Businessweek released its rankings report on alumni insights<\/a> from their Best B-Schools MBA ranking<\/a>. \u00a0Hult placed #9 for startups, meaning that Hult graduates are 9th most likely to start their own business. Meet four fearless graduate entrepreneurs making waves in the world of business<\/h2>\n

    David Rodr\u00edguez S\u00e1nchez, CEO & Co-Founder, Food for All, MBA Class of 2015<\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    David<\/a>, along with Hult MBA classmates<\/a> Sabine Valenga<\/a> and Victor Carre\u00f1o<\/a>, launched food waste app Food for All<\/a> in 2017. Today, their business is growing rapidly and they’ve diverted 100,000lbs of food from the trash can. Earlier this year, they were featured on NBC<\/a>.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: What inspired you to start Food for All?<\/h3>\n

    David: 40% of the food produced\u2014about 365 million lbs per day\u2014is thrown out. Restaurants account for around 18% of that waste. And yet at the same time, one in every six Americans faces hunger. Why can\u2019t people have quality food at a discount, while also reducing waste?<\/p>\n

    <\/h3>\n

    Q: Sounds like a no-brainer! How does it work?<\/h3>\n

    Food for All is a new marketplace for surplus food. Restaurants can sell their surplus meals through our app to users that go pick them up for at least 50% off.<\/p>\n

    <\/h3>\n

    Q: And how’s the business progressing?<\/h3>\n

    We recently got accepted by Techstars and have raised over $1M in funding. We are now operating in New York and Boston and have over 250 restaurants on our platform. We\u2019re growing at 25% month over month and structuring our expansion to new cities. And to date, we\u2019ve diverted over 100,000 lbs of food from the trash can.<\/p>\n

    2. Fabio Prestijacopo, CEO & Co-Founder, Blind Experiences & Chief Revenue Officer HolidayMe, Executive MBA Class of 2020<\/h3>\n

    After 11 years as VP for Emirates, Fabio<\/a> decided it was time for a change. Now part-way through his EMBA, he has rediscovered his creative brain and unleashed his inner entrepreneur.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: Was there a moment that changed everything\u00a0for you?<\/h3>\n

    Fabio: Leaving my VP role at Emirates after 11 years opened up a huge part of my brain that hadn\u2019t been\u00a0engaged in the corporate world. It was the perfect\u00a0time to invest in myself, build my skills, and update\u00a0my technical knowledge. This triggered me to follow\u00a0my passion for entrepreneurship and is what\u00a0brought me to Hult.<\/p>\n

    Q: How have you built a career on your passion?<\/h3>\n

    I\u2019ve launched my own travel startup: a niche, highly personalized, holiday-of-your-lifetime experience\u00a0called Blind Experiences<\/a>. And I\u2019m currently Chief\u00a0Revenue Officer at HolidayMe, an online travel\u00a0agent specializing in Umrah pilgrimage. We raised\u00a0$16M in our last round of funding and have around\u00a0350 employees.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: Any surprises on the Executive MBA?<\/h3>\n

    I assumed I had a good understanding of accounting\u00a0and finance. But I now realize that I was mistaken!\u00a0Being here has made me really reassess how we\u00a0look at that part of the business and attract investors. \u00a0You can\u2019t hide behind the finance department when\u00a0you\u2019re an entrepreneur. It\u2019s crucial to understand\u00a0every part of your company.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: What\u2019s been your biggest challenge?<\/h3>\n

    Two startups, twin boys, an EMBA \u2026 I knew it would test me but I\u2019d highly recommend it. The classroom experience is so enriched by the different cultures\u00a0and industries; it sparks incredible conversations\u00a0and is a very stimulating and engaging place to be.<\/p>\n

    3.\u00a0Johannes Solzbach, CEO, Clustermarket, Masters in Finance Class of 2015<\/h3>\n

    Johannes<\/a> met fellow entrepreneurs Tobias<\/a> and Niklas\u00a0<\/a>in class at Hult, and the three went on to co-found
    \n    Clustermarket, an online marketplace for sharing\u00a0scientific equipment.<\/a><\/p>\n

    Q: Why did you decide to go into business with your classmates?<\/h3>\n

    Johannes: We all came to Hult with corporate experience under our belts. Individually we were very ambitious and\u00a0looking to take our careers further. Together we bring\u00a0very different backgrounds and skillsets to the table.\u00a0From finance to supply chain, our range of\u00a0experiences showed us how we could leverage the\u00a0sharing economy in a sector so critical to society:\u00a0science.<\/p>\n

    Q: How did your Hult network help?<\/h3>\n

    Our entire founding team is from Hult – we wouldn\u2019t\u00a0have met otherwise. Through Hult, we\u2019ve also been\u00a0connected to investors and customers, which really\u00a0highlights the importance of the school\u2019s network. One of our very first investors was Giovanni Rizzo,\u00a0a Hult Executive MBA alum and angel investor, who\u00a0now sits on the company’s board.<\/p>\n

    Q: Tell us about your journey with Clustermarket<\/h3>\n

    Launching the business was no easy process but our\u00a0hard work is paying off. We secured \u00a3250,000 investment and set up within the U.K.\u2019s Golden\u00a0Triangle. We also opened our first head office in\u00a0central London and are growing our team.<\/p>\n

    4. Gazi Korkmaz,\u00a0Founder, TEC Avenue, BBA Class of 2016<\/h3>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: What’s happened for you since graduation?<\/h3>\n

    Gazi: My first venture, TEC Avenue, aimed to develop a new technology that wirelessly charged any kind\u00a0of electronics. While this was an R&D product,\u00a0our market-ready product was the first portable wireless charger that was compatible with new model smartphones using Qi-Technology. We sold this throughout Europe and spent more than two years working on the business model. My new business, Von Hohenstaufen Holding, offers consulting and financial services to companies, startups, HNWI, and private people. We offer services in a variety of fields including investment, asset management, and consulting\u2014I\u2019m excited to see what the future holds.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: What support did you get at Hult?<\/h3>\n

    Having ideas is one thing; having the right support is something else completely. Professor Daniel Rukare was a great support and has given me amazing advice. He helped me to join the Hult Founders Lab, which led to me having the founder of Shazam as my mentor.<\/p>\n

    Q: What\u2019s your advice to future students?<\/h3>\n

    Show courage and just do it. You don\u2019t want to look back at your time at Hult and wonder what could have been. Failures and mistakes will happen, but that\u2019s where you get the best experience.<\/p>\n

    Hap is an acclaimed businessman, consultant,\u00a0author, speaker, and adventurer. He founded\u00a0and led The North Face for over 20 years,\u00a0having received his BA and MBA from Stanford\u00a0University. The company won multiple awards\u00a0for its management and products. Hap now\u00a0runs HK Consulting and works with numerous entrepreneurial ventures.<\/p>\n

     <\/p>\n

    Q: How do you bring your experience into\u00a0the classroom?<\/h3>\n

    I bring in people I\u2019ve worked with, do real-world projects with companies I know, and use\u00a0stories from my own life.<\/p>\n

    Q: Would you describe yourself as a mentor?<\/h3>\n

    Eleven of the people who worked for me at\u00a0The North Face ended up running major\u00a0outdoor businesses of their own\u2014without\u00a0business backgrounds. I mentor a lot of students\u00a0in the development of their startups. It keeps\u00a0me in touch with the latest technologies and\u00a0presents live examples for me to draw on.<\/p>\n

    Q: What makes Hult different?<\/h3>\n

    It\u2019s global, and about the future of business as much as the past.<\/p>\n
