“I couldn’t agree more, Alik.”<\/em><\/h4>\n

This was part of an exchange I just recently had with a friend about what makes Hult, Hult<\/em>.<\/p>\n

I am graduating in less than a month.<\/strong> If you have have been through this process or know someone who has, you’ll understand the pressure and work that comes with it\u2014from making sure you have all your academic credits in order, to finding new accommodation, to landing\u00a0THE<\/strong> job that will give you the future everybody seems to be after.<\/p>\n

I am writing this blog as one of my final activities as a masters student<\/strong><\/a>. Looking back at my year at Hult, it dawned on me how easy this process I just described has become. Or rather, how the\u00a0people<\/em> have helped to make it easy for me.<\/p>\n

<\/h3>\n

“Chill, dude!”<\/h3>\n

Those who know me at Hult know about my daily calendar appointments and alerts for the different hats I wear at school. Along with classes, I was heavily involved in extracurricular activities and roles, from being a Global Ambassador to working with the Alumni and Corporate Relations team. I spent a considerable amount of time working side by side with Vaibhav Rustagi<\/strong><\/a> and Olga\u00a0Ivanova<\/strong><\/a> who lead that team in London. They had a big positive impact on my experience, especially when they reminded me to take a step back and\u00a0chill.<\/em><\/p>\n

If you are thinking of joining the Hult family, find yourself those people. Someone who, amidst all the chaos of finishing assignments on time, prepping for interviews, and moving in or out of your apartment, will turn around and tell you to chill out and embrace the experience.<\/p>\n

A year does go by quite quickly, and I have learned to enjoy every part of the journey as a graduate student.<\/p>\n

Professor Alek\u2019s “Crystal ball”<\/h3>\n

To all of the students who have taken Principles of Accounting with Professor Aleksander Grzeszczak<\/a><\/strong>, you know what I’m talking about. About halfway through our first sessions in the fall, Professor Alek mentioned the infamous “crystal ball<\/strong>,” jokingly using it as a metaphor for some traders who often act as though they can predict the future.<\/p>\n

No one can predict the future.<\/strong>\u00a0And rightfully so\u2014no one should. And no, you are not an exception to the rule. Stop making assumptions or thinking something should happen because of some previous circumstance. Stop basing yourself on what might<\/em> be and get down to work. It is okay not to know the future right now<\/em>.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The answer is within YOU.<\/h3>\n

Ironic in a way, job searching is an actual job in itself. As I prepare to walk across the stage and receive my diploma during our graduation ceremony, I am also preparing for my next step in life.<\/p>\n

I remember my first brief meeting with my Career Advisor<\/strong> in September. The session lasted about four minutes (by the way, your normal meetings will be about 30 minutes). Nevertheless, I learned a valuable lesson from my advisor then. It was very simple and straightforward, and it still applies today: it is okay not to know everything<\/strong>. It does not automatically mean you have less ambition than someone who already has it all figured out on paper.<\/p>\n

Similarly, my coach today, Julie<\/strong>, has been with me every step of the way during my job search, making sure I am always looking within me. This made me realize that, although the people around you play a vital role, it does, ultimately, all come down to you<\/strong>. And actually, if you have the right people around you, they will make sure you realize it is all within you too.<\/p>\n

So, how do I summarize the lessons I learned from my<\/em> Hult experience? Chill and stop assuming\u2014the answer is within you. And it truly is all about the people you surround yourself with<\/strong>. And to those around me, I am forever grateful.<\/p>\n
