The Curriculum

Students declare a concentration before their third year, which is the subject they choose to study in-depth. After completing courses in Communication Skills, Liberal Arts, Global Knowledge, and Business Fundamentals core courses, students can choose one of five areas to major in:

Courses Major in General Business

By definition the General Business concentration is cross- disciplinary. Students must choose two courses from each concentration, plus three business electives. Students may select courses from any of the other concentrations, and therefore develop their own tailor-made business focus based on their interests and course choice.*

* Curriculum, courses, sequencing, and program requirements are subject to change at the sole discretion of Hult International Business School.

General Business

The most successful business leaders are those who can integrate knowledge of finance, marketing, management, and operations into an effective whole.

Interdisciplinary studies

The General Business concentration at Hult is an interdisciplinary major, which allows students the freedom to craft their degrees according to their interests and career plans. Students usually lean toward an interest in a particular functional area, and they choose a concentration in this field, whether Finance, Marketing, or Social Entrepreneurship. In practice, however, a career in business is likely to involve time spent in more than one of these areas. Indeed, a successful career in business, by definition, means ever increasing responsibility for the full range of business functions. Our undergraduate curriculum is interdisciplinary, preparing graduates to move from a sector-specific role into a higher (and broader) management role, and arming them with the diverse skills necessary to do so. The General Business concentration at Hult adopts a similar rationale, allowing students to gain the interdisciplinary knowledge to succeed in a range of business environments.

A wide range of choices

The choice of classes is entirely flexible within the General Business concentration. Students must choose two courses from each concentration, plus three business electives, as they build their interdisciplinary business degrees. General Business students will work closely with their Academic Advisors to formulate an path that best supports their interests and career goals.

Career opportunities

The General Business concentration prepares students interested in developing and advancing careers as general managers, entrepreneurs, or consultants in a wide range of business environments. By virtue of its interdisciplinary approach, the General Business concentration prepares graduates for a multi-sector career path, in which a broad skill set is advantageous.
