John Newman

Professor of Entrepreneurship,

Professor Newman has extensive experience with entrepreneurship and small businesses. The founder of various companies in the computer, venture capital, and real estate sectors, he shifted his attention to education in the mid-1980’s.  Mr. Newman was the founding director of the entrepreneurship program at Boston University and taught entrepreneurship at Babson College for over a decade.  At Babson, he was part of a team which developed a unique, experiential business course which has been recognized with two national awards.  Mr. Newman has consulted to universities and government bodies on curriculum design and the design and delivery of entrepreneurship programs internationally and has developed and delivered programs in the U.S., Africa, Australia, the Middle East, South America, and Europe.  He has been recognized as Professor of the Year at both Babson College and Hult (twice) and was identified by Business Week as one of six people who contributed to the success of small businesses in the 1990s, the only academic on the list.
