Ajay Bhalla

Professor of Global Strategy and Global Management,

Ajay Bhalla is Full Professor of Global Innovation Management at Cass Business School. He joined Cass Business School as an Assistant Professor in 2001 and was awarded the Chair in 2010. From 2009-2010 he was a Visiting Scholar at Indian School of Business (ISB) in Hyderabad, India. He teaches Global Business, Strategy and Family Business courses.  He has specific research interest in (a) How Ownership & Governance Structure influences resource acquisition and strategic decision making (b) What makes firms innovate better and what are the implications of pursuing innovation across boundaries for firm configuration. He is an award winning researcher and teacher, and works closely with managers to execute thought leadership. More recently he has worked with UK Department of Business, Innovation and Skills, which involved presenting his research on Employee Ownership to Deputy Prime Minister. Among the firms he has worked with are John Lewis Partnership, Barclays, Ernst and Young, International Chambers of Commerce and EMI. He has published in top journals such as Academy of Management Perspectives, Journal of Operations Management, Journal of World Business, Industrial Marketing Management, Small Business Economics, Business Horizons, European Management Journal, Strategic Change and International Small Business Journal. As a management expert, he has appeared on Bloomberg, BBC, BBC World Service and CNBC and has also written for Financial Times.
