Family businesses are the predominant form of enterprise around the world, the oldest form of business and large creators of new jobs in modern political economies. Often the business starts with a single idea--one store, one product, one-service--and through the commitment and investment of entrepreneurial individuals and their families, the business grows or perishes. Family relationships, kinship, varying interest stakes, varying leadership skills make the environment complex to navigate and may not be evident to the professional manager coming into the family business. 

This is the first in a three-course sequence focusing on the unique aspects of family owned businesses. These courses cover topics as they relate to leadership, management, governance, growth, and succession, with attention given to both family and business dynamics. The courses will prepare students to be contributors, architects, and leaders of this unique and varied form of business organization.

Leading Growth and Transformation in Family Business

This is the second in a three-course sequence focusing on the unique aspects of family owned businesses. These courses cover topics as they relate to leadership, management, governance, growth, and succession, with attention given to both family and business dynamics. The courses will prepare students to be contributors, architects, and leaders of this unique and varied form of business organization.

Strategies for Building a Resilient Family Business

This is the third in a three-course sequence focusing on the unique aspects of family owned businesses.
