Length: 14 months part-time
Locations: Ashridge

Supervision is making an important contribution to the professional development and quality assurance of consultants and executive coaches and is becoming a key differentiator in the marketplace. At Ashridge, we see supervision as an essential quality assurance process for coaches and consultants. This qualification is designed for experienced organizational development consultants, to help them build their status as senior practitioners and supervisors of coaches and consultants.

As with all of our coaching and change programs, this program takes a broadly humanistic relational perspective. It develops your theoretical knowledge of the psychological underpinnings of supervision as well as your critical evaluation of supervision models and theories. The program is a natural follow-on from the Masters in Executive Coaching and the Masters in Organizational Change.

Delivered over 14 months, the program offers an opportunity to be supervised on any aspect of your work, individually and in a group of similarly experienced consultants. The first two modules are based on a series of six intensive two-day workshops at Ashridge. The third is the accreditation module through which, in a reflective description of the participant's supervision portfolio and relational philosophy combined with a live demonstration and discussion of supervision, the candidate demonstrates that he or she has achieved an appropriate level of competence.

Module 1: Advanced Coaching Supervision

  • Workshop 1: 30 April & 1 May 2018
  • Workshop 2: 21 & 22 June 2018
  • Workshop 3: 16 & 17 September 2018

Module 2: Advanced Organization Development Supervision

  • Workshop 1: 11 & 12 October 2018
  • Workshop 2: 6 & 7 December, 2018
  • Workshop 3: 7 & 8 February 2019

Module 3: Ashridge Supervisor Accreditation Process

  • Supervision Accreditation Process: 10 June 2019

Teaching methods include input, sharing of theory, frameworks and models of coaching supervision, small and full group discussion, pair work, experiential work, and work with video (as well as the use of some ‘video classics’). Each workshop includes a session of live supervision in small groups, where creative methods of supervision are demonstrated and participants have the opportunity to supervise and receive live supervision. You will be invited to bring questions emerging from your coaching work and will be encouraged to bring video (or audio) recordings as examples of your coaching in action.

Participant feedback

After coaching and consulting for 25 years, I wanted to find another way of making the most of my skills and experience. I wanted the opportunity to support other colleagues in learning and growing from their practice. It felt like a natural transition, the next phase in my career.
