Master Class: Leadership in an Era of Machine Learning

A range of new technologies are enabling new applications and business models in the 4th Industrial Revolution we are experiencing across the global economy. In this session we review frontier applications of exponential technologies, explore potential future paths, and discuss the implications for business leaders and organizations in a rapidly evolving age. We will use an active case learning approach to have you experience current leadership dilemmas faced by business leaders.

Meet our professor:

Mukul Kumar, Phd, is the Chief Innovation Officer at Hult. He has started and led high- growth, global advisory & education businesses, and taught at American and European universities. Dr. Kumar is a proponent of experiential learning. He said: "To keep pace with rapidly evolving business practices, business school educators must provide a cutting edge environment - to ensure our students can seamlessly transition from learning to earning. We need to design a laboratory for students to acquire new ideas, practice new skills, get direct feedback, and encourage diverse collaborations."

Dr. Kumar has two decades of experience building and leading high growth advisory businesses and education institutions. His work as a business leader and academic spans North America, Europe, Latin America, and his home country, India. He is active in undergraduate, graduate, and executive teaching. His early academic research investigated the relative impact of globalization and technology on wages. His current research agenda addresses the impact of technology on education and teaching. He is also an active advisor to several early stage EdTech firms.

Dr. Kumar started his career in consulting. As an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co. he built e-commerce businesses and led strategy projects for clients in Financial Services, HealthCare, and Heavy Industry. He then launched and led the Technology Infrastructure Practice at CEB (now Gartner) providing 600+ clients with advisory, benchmarking and executive education products.
