Dr. Mukul Kumar, CAO
Dr. Mukul Kumar joined Hult as Chief Academic Officer in 2011 with responsibility for all academic programs and campus operations across the globe. Dr. Kumar has started and led high-growth global advisory and education businesses and has taught at U.S. and European universities.
Dr. Kumar is a proponent of experiential learning. He said, "To keep pace with rapidly evolving business practices, business school educators must provide a cutting edge environment to ensure our students can seamlessly transition from learning to earning. We need to design a laboratory for students to acquire new ideas, practice new skills, get direct feedback, and encourage diverse collaborations."
Prior to Hult, Dr. Kumar was Executive Director of Executive Education and a faculty member at the Robert H. Smith School of Business at the University of Maryland. He led the creation of an entire portfolio of new executive education programs and taught Economics, Management Consulting, and Action Learning Projects. He has also lectured at Georgetown University and Toulouse Business School.
Previously, Dr. Kumar launched and led the Technology Infrastructure Practice at the Corporate Executive Board (CEB), providing 600+ clients with advisory, benchmarking, and executive education products. These products served companies from a broad range of industries: BP, Bristol Myers Squibb, Exxon-Mobil, Fidelity, Kelloggs, Nestle, among others.
Dr. Kumar started his career in consulting. As an Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Co. he built e-commerce businesses and led strategy projects for clients in financial services, healthcare, and heavy industries. At The World Bank and Palantir LLC, he led projects in international economics and forecasting.
Dr. Kumar holds a Ph.D in Economics from Princeton University and bachelor's degrees in Mathematics and Economics from Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is on the board of several organizations, including the Washington Improv Theater in Washington, DC.
