Class of Aug. 2006
"I wanted the global exposure at work and Hult really well prepared me for cultural differences."
Growing up in Germany before working all over the world and completing an MBA in Boston seemed to Sonja to be the perfect complement for her love of travel and cultural experiences. (The fact that her classroom seemed to be its own mini United Nations didn’t go unnoticed.) There were obvious reasons Sonja wanted to do an MBA and to her, there were obvious reasons why she chose to experience it at Hult.
For Sonja, an MBA provided her with personal development, international exposure, work place diversity and advancement in career. A change of career was important not because she desired a new industry, but because she wanted a more international working environment to fully exploit her true potential.
Sonja eventually chose to study at Hult because of its diverse and international flavour - its melting pot of cultural lessons and challenges. The appeal of Hult’s professional faculty mixed with its international student body were all too appealing.
After graduating from Hult, Sonja landed a Regional Sales Director position for EF Au Pair, responsible for three countries in Latin America and Europe, a job which provides the management perspectives and the excitement she looks for. She is grateful for the lessons learned in her global classroom at Hult which help her facing cultural communication challenges in this new position.
"If I were to advise others wanting to do an MBA, I would tell them that you have to be authentic. You have to know who you are and what you want to be. I wanted the global exposure and Hult really well prepared me for cultural differences."
She says that a one-year MBA course takes a lot of hard work and energy, but if you use your time to get the most out of your experience, you will make an unforgettable experience and leave a better person for it.
